Hollander House, the beginning

Welcome to the story of the Hollander House. This is a story with everything a hollywood screenwriter could hope for. From unmitigated joy and excitement, to intense late night design sessions, from gut busting entertainment to stress induced frustrations, from no light even close to being seen from the tunnel to knowing that we are well on our way to completing what will, without doubt, be one of the crowning accomplishments of our lives, this story is going to be fun to tell.

It all started 5 years ago with a little cabin we designed and built here in Montana and raised high in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. The Winograd cabin was to be the launching point that led Kim and Steve to us and, as they say, the rest is history. We are deeply indebted to Kathy and Leonard for allowing us to create a one of a kind jewel box of a poet’s cabin. We really had the opportunity to flex our artistic and technical muscles with this project and it certainly wetted our appetite for more projects like this one.

One Response to Hollander House, the beginning

Hi, I was able to see all your movies but of course am not allowed to have sound in the library, so missed your explanations. I understand “reciprocating” where it shows up in the roof beams coming together to form the octagon, 1 on top of 2, etc, and finally 8 on top of 1. But I don’t get it in the floor patterns.

The story is well written and readable, but it seems to be on the website in reverse chronological order….so your welcome-to-the-beginning page is at the very end. Also there are a couple of typos: once you have “where” where you meant “were”; and the possessive of “it” is “its”, NOT “it’s” !!!!!! Yes, I am quite sure I am right. My grammar is impeccable AND inerrant, not to mention imperative, so you can believe me.

I clicked on one of your thumbnails and got disgusting wrestling. I’m kicked off the compute…..
