Yeah, it is a pretty peculiar lake. Not only is it quite deep, but the bottom is wide and flat at that deep depth. I guess there is a chemocline there too, where the actual chemical makeup of the water is significantly different whether higher, or lower, than a certain depth. I guess there is a plane crashed down under there someplace, too.
You should hike the mountain if you get a chance! Duane and I skied unbelievable freshies down 5/4 this morning; snow was burbling up to our waist coming down! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment Heidi, I hope you are doing awesome.

Great to see the cool stuff you are doing. The Tally Lake video gives me a new respect for that lake. I wonder what types of fish live in there. Especially at the deeper levels. Yikes, it leaves a lot to the imagination. I miss you and V. Hope you are both well! Lets not discuss the weather.....Heidi

Hi Troy, thanks for taking the time to post on the blog! I couldn't agree more that working with you was an excellent experience and that your knowledge really helped us (me especially) pull off this frame design. Thanks for your patience and creativity and, hopefully, we have many more of these in the future.

Hi Chuck,
Love your blog. It was great working with you and the rest of the team on the Hollander project. I really like the pictures you've sent me of the timber connections and joinery. The intense detailing of some of these timber pieces really shows off your vast knowledge and experience with timber structures. Making it look easy is not easy to do.
Keep up the good work,
Troy L.

Hi, I was able to see all your movies but of course am not allowed to have sound in the library, so missed your explanations. I understand "reciprocating" where it shows up in the roof beams coming together to form the octagon, 1 on top of 2, etc, and finally 8 on top of 1. But I don't get it in the floor patterns.

The story is well written and readable, but it seems to be on the website in reverse chronological order....so your welcome-to-the-beginning page is at the very end. Also there are a couple of typos: once you have "where" where you meant "were"; and the possessive of "it" is "its", NOT "it's" !!!!!! Yes, I am quite sure I am right. My grammar is impeccable AND inerrant, not to mention imperative, so you can believe me.

I clicked on one of your thumbnails and got disgusting wrestling. I'm kicked off the compute.....

Thanks Lindy, great to hear from you. I have never heard of a Cobb roof, thanks for bringing them to my attention. In all honesty, the floor looks like a reciprocating structure, but we will be using steel to solve the structural engineering. KInder egg, haha, I haven't thought about those in ages; you're right, though, it does look like that.

Chuck, congratulations on the Hollander project. The reciprocating concept is fascinating. I've seen it in Cobb roofs and am interested in trying my hand at it in the future. And on a completely random side note, I'm digging the OTB logo... reminds me of a Kinder Egg. ;)
